Mission Statement of Shore Support

Shore Support is an organization which has worked in the interest of fishermen, their families, and communities, since 1996. We are proud to be celebrating our tenth anniversary this October. We are overjoyed with the growth of our organization, the pure fact that we still exist and grow, and mostly the impact that we have on the community.

Shore Support's Executive Director, Deb Shrader, developed the organization as a result of being the wife of scallop boat, Captain Ronnie Shrader, and her concern for unity and knowledge within the fishing industry.

Shore Support's mission statement remains the same: To identify and organize the rank and file fishermen in the port of New Bedford, to keep fishing families aware of retraining opportunities and human services when necessary, and to create a liaison between the rank and file fishermen and the regulatory system.
